Sean Murray has been President and CEO of Advocate Printing & Publishing and seven other related companies since 2004. His father Bruce F. Murray preceded him. They enjoyed many years working together and building a unique business in Atlantic Canada.
Sean believes in growing business for succession and the ability to leave a legacy for future generations. With this philosophy in mind, Sean, Advocate and many team members have been celebrated for their leadership in industry and community.
For five consecutive years he was recognized as one of the Top 50 CEO’s in Atlantic Canada and in 2011 inducted into the Atlantic CEO’s Hall of Fame. He was also celebrated as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2005.
Most recently Sean dedicates time and energy as a Director of Nova Scotia Business Inc and is Chair of the organizations Investment Committee. He is also a Director of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and more locally the Aberdeen Hospital Foundation.
Sean is a graduate of St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. He is also a graduate of the YPO Presidents Program at Harvard Business School and the Directors Education Program at the Rotman School of Business receiving the ICD.D in 2015.

Shane has a unique blend of business acumen. His marketing, creative and communications background has allowed him to craft one of the best customer service and sales teams in the industry. Mike LeBlanc is regarded as one of the most technically skilled production managers in the Canadian print industry. He respected by industry experts around the world and by his home team for his creativity, strategic thinking and commitment to accuracy. Mike ensures safe, reliable, sustainable and efficient operations at all Advocate print facilities. His fluency in French has been as asset to the growth of operations in other parts of Atlantic Canada. With over 40 years industry experience he has been critical to business expansion. While Advocate print technologies are some of the most advanced in Canada he continually invests time into researching and sourcing equipment that will create an impressive ROI for clients. He is a hand’s on manager but has trained a highly skilled team that deliver the exceptional product that Advocate is known for.
You cannot let Mikes accumulated years in the business fool you. He continues to be confused with David Beckham on the soccer pitch and a force to be reckoned with on the ice as a member of the Pictou Old Puckers.

Jean McLean joined Advocate July 5, 2011 as the Human Resources Manager. Prior to joining the Advocate team Jean spent many years working throughout Ontario and Nova Scotia developing her skills in printing, high technology and call centre solution providers. As a Human Resources professional Jean studied Human Resources programs through the University of Toronto, Human Resources Certificate Program and attended York University where she studied Psychology. As a skilled Human Resources leader Jean is highly motivated to promote positive employee engagement, effective communication and training programs. She is also an active leader for continuous improvement for high performance, organizational effectiveness and succession planning programs. Working with all levels of management and employees Jean manages recruitment, HRIS solutions, return to work programs, workers compensation program relationships and is an effective communicator and leader of Occupational Health and Safety legislation. Jean is active within the community volunteering her time singing and playing guitar at senior homes, local fire halls and churches.

Tom is a collaborative and enthusiastic leader with over 30 years of sales, sales management and marketing experience in the publishing and commercial printing sectors. His genuine customer focused work ethic shines through with his drive to provide results driven solutions for clients and business partners.
As General Manager of Advocate Printing, Dieppe, New Brunswick location, Tom works with his team to create lasting strategic partnerships with local businesses, supporting important community initiatives and organizations that strengthen our community.
He is well known for his community dedication, serving on many volunteer boards and community associations including: Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce, Friends of The Moncton Hospital, Moncton Industrial Parks and Greater Moncton S.P.C.A.
Tom relocated to Moncton from Saint John in 2005 with his wife Kelly of 28 years along with his daughters Chelsey and Lindsey.
Tom enjoys spending quality time with friends and family and is particularly interested in lending a hand to those in need. Playing acoustic guitar is a favourite past time.

Randy and his team are constantly working on strategic partnerships within the community. He is key in leading innovation in the 150 year old business while hanging on to the important aspects of the company legacy in Atlantic Canada.
Randy is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, past president of his local curling club and active in a number of other community based initiatives.

In 2002 Advocate expanded their newspaper holdings in New Brunswick and purchased St. Croix Printing and Publishing. At that time Shelley was well established in her newspaper career and in her role as Manager of the New Brunswick operation. She continues to be recognized and respected for business expertise, problem solving skills and unstoppable dedication to her community. In 2005 she was a recipient of the Canadian Newspaper Association Silver Quill Award for 25 years of distinguished service to the newspaper profession. This year she celebrates 35 years with the company. Shelley’s personal approach and energy spills over into the community. She has demonstrated leadership as president of her local of the Boys and Girls Club, the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club and the Charlotte Business Development Corporation.

With over twenty years in the print industry, Jamie has been responsible for the concept and award-winning development of design projects, as well as art directing photographers, other designers and production artists. Throughout this time, he has honed his skills as a traditional designer and maintained a keen interest in the advancements of marketing-focused design and communications technology. Today, his expertise lends itself to strategy and brand development, in print and online. Jamie has been part of Advocate Communications Group since its inception in 1995.
Outside of the office, Jamie likes to tour the highways on his bike and explore the coastal waters in his kayak. His greatest productions are his three kids: Caitlin, Brandon and Ryan.

After a 10 year career in the music industry on the east coast, Bruce moved to Vancouver and took on Photography full time. In 1994 he was lured back to the Maritimes by an offer to open a commercial studio to service the clients of Advocate Printing & Publishing. Starting with just himself and an assistant, Bruce has grown VisionFire Commercial Photography into a full service commercial studio with three photographers, a videographer and support staff that create images and corporate video projects for some of Canada’s top companies. “I love commercial photography because of the variety,” says Bruce, “On any given day I never know whether I am going to be up in a helicopter or down in a mine, or photographing jewellery, seafood or sports-cars.” When not in the studio, Bruce loves to travel with his wife Christina and their children Carson and Madison. Bruce and Christina have run 20 marathons around the world Bruce also performs and records as a drummer with the rocking blues band, ‘Ghostrider & The 'Allied Horns'.

Darren Oakes understands distribution. He has been in the business for 37 years. He had ten of those years under his belt when Advocate bought Flyers Services in 1989 and he has been manager of the Kentville based operation ever since. He works with a team of seven full time and ten part time employees. He says he likes the feeling of satisfaction that comes from working together to accomplish their goals and providing effective customer service.
